Dr. Karpie is a native of Williamsville, NY and a graduate of Williamsville North High School, class of 1996. He received his Bachelors of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University in 2000, graduating with high distinction. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2005.

Dr. Karpie completed his internship in general surgery and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in 2010. Upon completion of his training he worked as an attending orthopaedic trauma surgeon at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In 2011, Dr. Karpie worked as a clinical instructor and general orthopaedist at the VA Healthcare system in Pittsburgh PA, where he performed a number of orthopaedic procedures including ACL reconstructions, rotator cuff repairs, and hip and knee replacements on our nation's veterans of foreign wars.

In 2012, Dr. Karpie completed a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston MA. During his year at New England Baptist Hospital, Dr. Karpie served as assistant team physician for the NBA's Boston Celtics. He was a clinical instructor at Tuft's University School of Medicine and team physician for the Tufts University Jumbos. In addition to taking care of collegiate athletes, Dr. Karpie spent time at Boston Children's Hospital learning comprehensive assessment, treatment and follow-up care to children, adolescents and young adults with sports­ related orthopaedic injuries.

Dr. Karpie specializes in the treatment of all sports related orthopaedic injuries, concentrating on the arthroscopic treatment of knee and shoulder disorders, including ACL, meniscus, and cartilage injuries, as well as rotator cuff injuries and shoulder instability. Other interests include comprehensive fracture care, total hip, knee and shoulder replacement surgery.

Dr. Karpie returns to his hometown of Williamsville NY joining Buffalo Orthopaedic Group. He also sees patients at his satellite offices in Hamburg and Springville.
